Research interest

The lab is working at the interfaces of ecology, biogeochemistry, analytical chemistry and atmospheric chemistry. We strongly believe that interdisciplinarity is currently needed to tackle current complex environmental issues. Our overall research objective is to understand how pollutants and nutrients move in the environment, interact with each other, and what are their effects on the functioning of ecosystems. Our main current research interests for the coming years are:

• Photochemical and photobiological reactions affecting the Hg cycle in lakes;
• Modeling air/water and air/snow Hg exchange.
• The algal ecology and redox chemistry of nutrients and selectedcontaminants in snow in temperate and High Arctic ecosystem;
• The impact of massive post-spawning salmon mortality on aquatic-to-land transfer of nutrients and selected contaminants;
• Nutrient and contaminant cycling in wetlands along the St. Lawrence River;
• The impact of exotic aquatic invaders on nutrient and contaminant cycling in aquatic systems;
